“Some things happen very slowly in your career and some very fast. When I started in the World Championship I was almost last in the 125 class but in only eight years I have become MotoGP World Champion. It’s incredible how life can change.”
“Let’s say that I haven’t been very lucky this year and this is a clear example. When everyone gets a penalty, or nearly all the drivers, and nothing changes except for me… I lose two positions and drop out of the points. But fair enough, I made a mistake. I should have kept within the delta time. I didn’t make many during the year, but this was one.”
“We are running on a very lean edge of what we’ve got. There’s no change in strategy – we’re going out to win each race, as we’ve done all year. We are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it!”
“We have not piggy-backed on Kimi’s image at all, which is what he has been claiming in the press. We were contacted by his managers after Spa. They wanted to enter into discussions and at that time we said: ‘Please wait. Yes, we are very flattered that you have contacted us, but we need to finish the evaluation of Vitaly’s [Petrov] potential and from that point, when we have our own conclusion, we will get back to you.’ There was nothing else. Since then, I had not got back to them because we had not finished the evaluation of the potential of Vitaly and there was nothing else to say. I never used the media, and I don’t see the benefit of telling to the media that Kimi is interested and chasing us. What would be the purpose of this?”
“I had an American come up to me at the airport, Heathrow, a few months back and she said ‘Me and my family are big fans of yours.’ I said ‘Wicked, thank you so much. I didn’t think Formula One was that big in America.’ And she said ‘Yeah, we’ve got all your records, all your albums.’ I was, like ‘Fantastic. You think I’m Chris Martin don’t you?’ and she went ‘Are you not?’ I said ‘No, I race in Formula One cars’. So she said ‘What’s your name?’ and I said ‘Jenson Button’. Then she said. ‘Ah, my family are big fans of yours.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course they are.’” – Muziekster Jenson Button.
